Gary Oldman and Tom Hardy are reuniting after a successful 2012, working together in both The Dark Knight Rises (directed by Christopher Nolan) and Lawless (directed by John Hillcoat). Oldman has signed on to a film Hardy is working on: Child 44. Oldman’s character investigates Hardy’s in a possible involvement with a series of child murders.
The film is an adaptation of Tom Rob Smith’s novel, with the script written by Richard Price. It is going to be directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House). The thriller is set in 1950s Russia, where Hardy is part of the Soviet military police. An investigation leads him to becoming a suspect. This is where Oldman steps in: to investigate Hardy himself.
Hopefully, most of Hardy’s attractive face will not be covered by a breathing apparatus, like when he portrayed Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. The cast also includes Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), who will be playing Hardy’s wife, and Joel Kinnaman (Safe House) as one of Hardy’s colleagues.
Oldman’s surge of parts, which include Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and the 2013 thriller Paranoia, means Gary Oldman fans will not be disappointed.
