Commercials are always a huge draw during the Super Bowl. Some of us even mute the game and only watch when Doritos and Bud Light products dance across the screen. Then there are the “little jewels” movie fans search for – the short trailers that tease viewers with new scenes and plot twists. Here were some of the biggest trailers that caught my attention during the Super Bowl!
Iron Man 3 – Robert Downey Jr. (The Avengers) returned to the screen as Tony Stark, this time facing a villain known as the Mandarin. The special effects concerning the exploding air plane is the real spotlight in the teaser; I felt my heart racing when Tony realized he didn’t have enough man power to save everyone.
World War Z – As a fan of the novel, I feel iffy about Brad Pitt’s (Killing Them Softly) character. Obviously, the storyline for the movie will be different from the book. In addition, most of the footage in this trailer has already been seen. But in the end, watching zombies tumbling over buses and chasing people just seems too exciting to miss out.
Fast and Furious 6 – This just looks ridiculous – which is exactly what the franchise is great at doing. I didn’t know which was wilder: a tank shooting cars on a freeway, or a small group of the Fast and Furious team bringing down a plane. Oh, and a car shot out from inside the crashing plane. Story? No. Dwayne Johnson (GI Joe: Retaliation)? Absolutely!
Star Trek Into Darkness – Benedict Cumberbatch (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) will be the upcoming baddie in the U.S.S. Enterprise‘s next space adventure. Chris Pine (This Means War) returns as Captain Kirk. Like World War Z, most of the footage in this trailer has already been seen – the best part is when Cumberbatch’s character mocks Kirk. Let the summer flick of the year commence!
